When a toothache can’t wait

Tooth pain rarely shows up at a convenient time. If it does, call (305) 217-6453 as early as you can and we will look for the earliest opening. Many urgent visits turn out to be an infected nerve that needs a root canal ($980 on a front tooth, $1,200 on a back tooth), a broken tooth that needs a crown ($1,200), or a tooth that has to come out. We explain the options and prices before starting. If you have facial swelling with fever, or trouble breathing or swallowing, go to a hospital emergency room first.

What to have ready when you call

When you call about an urgent problem, tell us which tooth hurts, how long it has hurt, whether it is worse with hot, cold or biting, and whether you have any swelling. That helps us judge how soon you need to be seen. Have your insurance card handy if you have one. Until your visit, avoid chewing on that side, rinse with warm salt water and use an over-the-counter pain reliever as directed on the label.
