Why it matters

Growing Smiles Need Early Care

Children begin to get their baby teeth during the first six months of life. By age 6 or 7 years, they start to lose their first set of teeth, which eventually are replaced by secondary, permanent teeth. Without proper dental care, children face possible oral decay and disease that can cause a lifetime of pain and complications. Today, early childhood dental caries — an infectious disease — is five times more common in children than asthma and seven times more common than hay fever.

Finding care

Where Can I Find a Pediatric Dentist?

Pediatric dentists practice in a variety of locations including private practices, dental schools, and medical centers. Your pediatrician can help you find a pediatric dentist near your home.

Pediatric Dentists — The Best Care for Children

Children are not just small adults. They are not always able to be patient and cooperative during a dental exam. Pediatric dentists know how to examine and treat children in ways that make them comfortable. In addition, pediatric dentists use specially designed equipment in offices that are arranged and decorated with children in mind.

A pediatric dentist offers a wide range of treatment options, as well as expertise and training to care for your child’s teeth, gums, and mouth. When your pediatrician suggests that your child receive a dental exam, you can be assured that a pediatric dentist will provide specialized care for children.

Dr. G Dental Studio provides general dentistry for families. Ask us whether your child’s needs can be met in our office or whether a pediatric specialist referral is the better next step.

Can a pediatric/family dentist see both kids and adults?

Yes. Dr G Dental Studio sees adults and children ages 8 and up, so parents and children 8 and older can often be seen at the same office, even on the same day. That makes it easier for families to keep up with cleanings. A new patient cleaning is $89. Call (305) 217-6453 to book family visits; hablamos español.

How long do kids' dental appointments take?

Most children's checkups and cleanings take about 30 to 45 minutes. A first visit may take a little longer so your child can get comfortable with the team and the chair. We keep visits calm and friendly. Call (305) 217-6453 to schedule, and ask about back-to-back family appointments.

Do you accept Medicaid for children?

No. We do not accept Medicaid or HMO plans, including for children. We accept PPO insurance and work with four financing partners to keep care affordable. A new patient cleaning is $89. Call (305) 217-6453 if you have questions about your child's coverage.

My child is terrified of the dentist. What do you do?

Many children feel nervous, and that is normal. We keep the first visit short and friendly, explain things in simple words, and let your child see the tools first. Parents can stay close. Speaking positively at home helps too. Tell us when you book that your child is scared, and we will take extra time. Hablamos español.
