At Dr G Dental Studio, we place dental implants, replacement tooth roots composed of titanium metal. Titanium is a strong, biocompatible material, making dental implants incredibly durable and reliable. The dental implant itself is a small post inserted into the jawbone and acts as the foundation for the artificial tooth to be placed on top of. Essentially, the implant acts like an anchor to permanently hold the tooth. When a patient has lost a tooth or multiple teeth, dental implants provide the perfect solution to fill in the gaps in a smile and provide the stability and strength the teeth need to function correctly.

The Procedures for Dental Implants

The dental implant placement is a surgical procedure typically performed under local anesthesia. Our dentist will then drill a hole into the jawbone and carefully place the implant into the socket. The gum tissue is then stitched back together, leaving the implant to integrate with the jawbone over several months. Osseointegration is the process in which the bone fuses and integrates with the implant surface, providing a stable foundation. This healing period can range from a few weeks to several months, allowing the implant to integrate with the jawbone fully.

Once osseointegration has occurred, a minor surgical procedure is performed to place an abutment on top of the implant. The abutment is a connector that protrudes through the gum line and serves as a support structure for the final dental restoration. After the gums have healed and the abutment is in place, the dentist will take impressions of your teeth to create a custom-made dental crown, bridge, or denture that will attach to the implant. This restoration will be designed to match the color, shape, and function of your natural teeth.

Enhanced Functionality

Dental implants provide a stable and robust foundation for artificial teeth. They enable you to regain the ability to bite, chew, and speak correctly, restoring your ability to enjoy a wide range of foods and confidently communicate. Unlike removable dentures, implants are fixed in place and do not slip or move while eating or speaking.

Preserves Jawbone and Facial Structure

The underlying jawbone may deteriorate over time when a tooth is lost. Dental implants help stimulate and keep the bone by mimicking the natural tooth root and providing the necessary support. This prevents bone loss and helps maintain the integrity of your facial structure.

Increased Confidence and Self-Esteem

Dental implants can have a significant positive impact on your self-confidence and self-esteem. They provide a permanent and natural-looking solution for missing teeth, allowing you to smile, speak, and interact with others without worrying about gaps or dentures slipping.
