Common dental emergencies we treat

Severe Toothache Relief

A sudden, intense toothache can signal an infection, abscess, or deep cavity. Our emergency dentist team will diagnose the cause of your pain and provide fast relief — often during the same visit. We use advanced CBCT 3D imaging to identify the source of the problem quickly and accurately.

Knocked-Out Tooth

If a tooth has been knocked out, time is critical. Bring the tooth with you (handle it by the crown, not the root) and get to our office within 30 minutes for the best chance of saving it. We offer emergency reimplantation and stabilization.

Broken or Chipped Tooth Repair

Whether from an accident, sports injury, or biting down on something hard, a broken tooth needs prompt attention. Dr. Yordanka Gonzalez, DMD, provides same-day bonding, crowns, and other restorative treatments to save your tooth and restore your smile.

Dental Abscess or Infection

A dental abscess is a serious infection that can spread to other parts of your body if left untreated. Symptoms include swelling, fever, and throbbing pain. We provide emergency root canal therapy, drainage, and antibiotics to treat the infection and eliminate pain.

Lost Crown or Filling

A lost crown or filling exposes sensitive tooth structure to bacteria and temperature changes. We offer same-day crown re-cementation and temporary or permanent filling replacements to protect your tooth.

Broken Braces or Orthodontic Wire

If a bracket comes loose or a wire is poking your cheek, we can repair or adjust your orthodontic appliance the same day to prevent further irritation or injury.

Common questions

Emergency Dental FAQs

What to do, where to go and what to expect when you have a dental emergency in Miami.

Do you accept walk-ins for dental emergencies?

Yes. We accept walk-ins for dental emergencies during business hours, and calling (305) 217-6453 first helps us prepare for your visit. Our hours are Monday and Friday 9 am to 5 pm, Tuesday 9 am to 7 pm, Wednesday and Thursday 9 am to 4 pm, and Saturday 9 am to 3 pm. Our team speaks English and Spanish.

What counts as a dental emergency?

A dental emergency is any problem that causes severe pain, swelling, bleeding or damage that can't wait for a routine appointment. Common examples include a severe toothache, a knocked-out or broken tooth, a swollen face or gum abscess, a lost crown or filling, and a broken braces wire. If you're not sure, call us and describe what's happening.

What should I do if a tooth gets knocked out?

Pick the tooth up by the crown, not the root, and get to our office within 30 minutes if you can. If it's dirty, rinse it gently with milk or water without scrubbing. Try placing it back in the socket, or keep it in milk or inside your cheek. Call (305) 217-6453 on the way. Fast care gives the best chance of saving the tooth.

What if I have a dental emergency on a Sunday or after hours?

We're closed on Sundays and after business hours, so call us as soon as we open, or walk in during business hours. Go to a hospital emergency room right away if you have facial swelling that affects your breathing or swallowing, a high fever with dental swelling, uncontrolled bleeding or a jaw injury. Those situations need immediate medical care.

How much does an emergency dental visit cost?

The cost depends on what's needed to treat the problem, and we give you a clear estimate before treatment begins. For example, a simple extraction is $480, and a root canal is $980 for a front tooth or $1,200 for a back tooth. We accept PPO dental insurance plans, and financing through CareCredit, Cherry, Alphaeon Credit or Sunbit is available with lender approval.

How can I ease a toothache until I see the dentist?

Rinse with warm salt water, gently floss to remove any trapped food, and hold a cold compress on your cheek. Over-the-counter pain relievers taken as directed on the label can help. Don't put aspirin directly on your gums, since it can burn the tissue. These steps only buy time, so call (305) 217-6453 to have the cause of the pain treated.

My crown or filling fell out. What should I do?

Keep the crown if you have it, avoid chewing on that side and call us for a same-day visit. We offer crown re-cementation and temporary or permanent filling replacement to protect the exposed tooth. Over-the-counter dental cement from a pharmacy can hold a crown in place briefly, but don't use household glue. The sooner the tooth is covered, the better.

Can you fix a broken or chipped tooth the same day?

Often, yes. Depending on the size of the break, a chipped or broken tooth can be repaired with bonding the same day, while larger breaks may need a crown or other restoration. Save any broken pieces and rinse your mouth with warm water. If the tooth hurts or you can see pink or red inside it, call right away.
